Halloween might have been and gone, but Dead by Daylight is doing its level best to keep the spooky season alive (in a way) by announcing the latest 2v8 crossover, and it’s two big ones! Both Silent Hill and Castlevania will be making their way into The Fog in the latest event, with full gory and glorious details below.

In this story, you fill the shoes of Robert Robertson, formerly known as Mecha Man, and are now an active dispatcher for the SDN. It is not like most superhero games that are full of side activities and whatnot, but a talented and diverse voice cast, art design, and stellar writing did all the heavy lifting. These are all the studio needed to reach an impressive milestone for a debut title.

Starfinder: Afterlight, the turn-based RPG set in the iconic and well-known Starfinder TTRPG universe, has found its narrator in Roger Clark, the charismatic star of Red Dead Redemption 2! Based on the Second Edition rules of the game, players take on the role of a space crew member whose captain has vanished, and, in a quickly escalating adventure, they’ll have to gather a team to save the galaxy from imminent destruction.

World of Tanks has just announced its upcoming crossover event with The Walking Dead, merely weeks after its last one with Wolfenstein. With iconic characters returning, some from the dead, it looks like this event will be one to remember for players of the tank-centric, carnage-fuelled shooter.

Firstly, thanks for your time! Would you mind explaining who you are and what you do in the upcoming Painkiller game?

I’m Damian Wyspiański, Creative Director on Painkiller. I lead the vision for the project, focusing on design and coordinating creative efforts across art, production, and tech.

How did the decision come about to revisit the Painkiller universe, and, instead of a remake or remaster, make an entirely new entry?

We were approached with the idea of creating a new co-op title in the Painkiller universe. It immediately sparked our interest, there’s something compelling about revisiting a cult classic, but doing so through a fresh lens. As for why not a remake: one already exists, Painkiller: Hell & Damnation. That’s why we felt it made more sense to expand the franchise rather than retread familiar ground. There’s real value in bringing something new to the table.

What’s the one thing you’re most nervous about the audience experiencing in this new look version of the franchise?

The shift to a co-op focus is definitely the biggest leap we’ve taken with the franchise, and we know it’s going to spark strong reactions. Painkiller has always been a deeply personal, visceral experience, just you, a pile of weapons, and a horde of enemies. So naturally, we’re a bit nervous about how fans will respond to sharing that space. Will it still feel like Painkiller if you’re not alone in the chaos?

That said, we didn’t make this change lightly. We saw an opportunity to evolve the formula while keeping the core spirit intact: fast-paced combat, outrageous weapons, and that signature grit. The co-op layer adds new dynamics, but the soul of Painkiller is still very much there.

Will we be seeing any familiar faces from the past games, or is this being treated as a completely new universe/new story?

This is a completely new story, built from the ground up with new characters. We felt that bringing legacy characters into a co-op-driven experience, where the dynamic shifts from a lone protagonist to a team of players, just wouldn’t feel right. The narrative, pacing, and emotional beats are all tailored to that multiplayer structure, so rather than trying to retrofit old faces into a new format, we chose to explore fresh ground and let this entry stand on its own.

The gaming community is in mourning after the sudden passing of D’Angelo, the renowned musician who was involved in the making of Red Dead Redemption 2. Fans had nothing but positive things to say when the game was released in 2018, especially with the music in the background during one of the heaviest moments in the story.

Music and video games have accomplished plenty apart, but the Red Dead Redemption franchise would have never been the same without it. Fans took to social media and offered their condolences to the bereaved family and shared how much his work meant to them.

During Chapter 5, when Arthur and the gang escaped by the skin of their teeth in Guarma, players assumed control of Arthur and rode on horseback towards camp. It was dark, eerie, devoid of hope, but once D’Angelo’s Unshaken started playing, it set the mood and tone for the rest of Arthur’s journey.

Red Dead Redemption 2 might have been a slow burn, but the buildup in the story was a masterclass in game development. The developers knew when, where, and what kind of music was needed to amplify what the player was going through, and it paid off in the end.

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to talk to the owner and creator of CodeRadGames, the developer behind the upcoming project Rogue Blight, regarding said game. During this interview, we talked about a few different aspects of the upcoming game, which ranged from the unique gameplay loop that players will experience all the way to the design of the numerous enemies, bosses, and NPCs that the player will meet on their journey.

For those who are not aware, Rogue Blight is an upcoming project from the developer CodeRadGames in which the player takes control of a mysterious character that is tasked with fighting through numerous rogue-lite levels, choosing from rewards, enemies, and even bosses as they acquire unique weapons and improve their character after each run, whether they are successful or not.

First of All, Can You Please Tell Us Your Name and Your Role Within the Development of Rogue Blight?

Hello, I’m Konrad, but I go by CodeRad online. I’m the developer behind Rogue Blight and the owner of CodeRadGames. I have done most things in this game, such as programming, animations, game design, story, and more. I’ve been working on it for a little over five years now, and it’s really become my passion project.

The team for Rogue Blight is:

Rogue Blight Is a Mix of Different Gameplay Genres, From Side Scroller to Soulslike and Even Rogue-Lite. What Made You/Inspired You to Decide on These Different Genres?

I’m a huge fan of Souls-like games, especially Dark Souls 3. It’s my favorite game of all time. The goal from the start was to make a 2D Souls-like with a focus on combat. I thought if I concentrated on just that, I could make the combat feel really high quality while keeping the project’s scope manageable.

Once I had a rough version of combat implemented, I decided to wrap it around a Slay the Spire-style map with upgrades. I thought it would be small in scope, too; turns out I was very wrong! Making a rogue-lite with all its systems ended up being incredibly challenging and time-consuming. But honestly, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

What Led You to Create Rogue Blight in the First Place?

The simple answer is COVID-19. I started working from home during lockdown and suddenly had a lot more free time, so I decided to finally pursue my passion for game development. It’s been over five years since then. That might sound like a long time, but I’ve only been working on the game part-time since I also work full-time as a software engineer.

There’s no better feeling than when we look at the past and feel refreshed. We call this feeling nostalgia. When it comes to video games, retro games are the ones giving us this bittersweet emotion. Though everyone has enjoyed retro gaming, it is becoming more relevant nowadays when more and more AAA games are launching broken and unplayable, and the indie and retro scene isn’t wasting any time in taking over. And that is what makes retro games more relevant today. More than ever, they are fun.

The graphics have advanced to the next level in games today, but fun is lagging behind in many of them. Add those microtransactions in a game, and most of the video games have become a means to capitalize on corporations, which once cared about users having fun while playing a game.

For that matter, we sat down with James Deighan, founder of Mega Cat Studios, to pick his mind on why retro gaming is more relevant today. Mega Cat has published games, including the Backyard Sports series, Coffee Crisis, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit, and more, and is currently working on another Backyard Sports title.

Hello, James. Let’s begin with a brief introduction. Tell the readers a bit about yourself and Mega Cat Studios.

I’ve always been passionate about games, not just as entertainment, but as a cultural language that connects people across generations. While the developers are tight-lipped about the release of the third and final game, this did not stop them from announcing a physical re-release of earlier entries. Square Enix Is About To Make Physical Media Collectors Very Happy With a Twin Package

In a recent blog post, Square Enix announced a new twin pack for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which features the first two games and also includes the Intermission level featuring Yuffie Kisaragi. This twin pack is a perfect opportunity for those who didn’t pick up a physical copy of both Intergrade and Rebirth on PlayStation 5, or physical game collectors with a large digital library to stack up on the shelf.

At the time of writing, there is no news about a physical release for the twin pack on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. Perhaps this new bundle will be released alongside the streamlined progression mode as featured on these other platforms.

Within Beneath, players will be able to explore all kinds of unique locations as they attempt to take on humans, zombies, and other creatures as they attempt to solve the mysteries lurking within, but unfortunately, there are entities that do not want to make this easy on the player.

The Atmosphere of Beneath is very Eerie and Mysterious

Let’s start by talking about the general atmosphere of Beneath and what I experienced during my first few hours with the game. If you are a fan of games that are full of tight corners, dark locations, and alluring secrets, then Beneath is the perfect game for you.

Throughout my time with Beneath, I constantly found myself exploring a few different areas within the game that were included for flavor text and filling the world out, but they also served the additional purpose of building up suspense.

Since entering its Founder Access era, EVE Frontier has moved quite rapidly through its cycles, and now, it’s about to enter Cycle 3, bringing a laundry list of improvements and changes. Cycle 3 certainly seems to indicate that CCP Games is not only listening to players’ criticisms but also happy to address the issues they’re encountering, something not every developer would do. Further to that, the details below indicate a plan for the future that should appease the more expectant players of the space MMO.

Today, CCP Games announced that EVE Frontier will be entering Cycle 3 of Founder Access, starting Wednesday, 15th October at 14:00 UTC. Titled Silent Tide, Cycle 3 will be a fresh start. All progress from the previous Cycle will be wiped, allowing players to begin again from a level playing field.

Following the launch of Cycle 3, CCP Games will also hold a 10-day free trial of EVE Frontier from October 17th to October 27th, allowing more people to get a taste of the merciless space survival sandbox.

As part of Silent Tide, a host of new content will be introduced to EVE Frontier as the Cycle progresses, with major additions arriving on October 29th to mark the next step in the game’s evolution—timed for when players are ready to make full use of them. This next Cycle will see the evolution of base-building mechanics, giving players greater creative freedom and enabling new tactical, defense and industry layouts for bases. An update to industry mechanics will also enhance production efficiency by allowing jobs to run continuously as long as structures are powered and supplied.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds isn’t hanging around, with its first DLC pack hitting consoles and PC today! Having had a strong showing at GamesCom, decent reviews all round, including ours, it seems SEGA is intent on bringing the most bang for our buck. Sandfall Interactive hit the ground running after a successful launch of its debut title, and it received nothing but praise from the gaming community. Developing an original IP nowadays is rare and can be challenging, especially in an industry dominated by larger companies and franchises. If you’re confused by the twoing and froing of the Uncharted timeline, don’t worry, as that confusion will soon disappear. Naughty Dog broke new ground with the Uncharted franchise in 2007 by combining a great story and impressive gameplay. The series follows the adventures of Nathan Drake and his friends as they explore the world in search of treasure, meaning, greatness, and in the end: family. The franchise quickly earned its spot in the pantheon of great PlayStation exclusives and made history by shipping 41 million units since 2007.

Regardless of the flow of the storyline, endings decide whether the game will have a long-lasting impact on the player’s mind. While good endings successfully serve that purpose, tragic endings do that even more.

9. BioShock Infinite

If you’re looking for some emotional video game endings, BioShock Infinite is the perfect title to try out. Set in the year 1912, this story follows the journey of Booker DeWitt, but at the end of the game, players face a twisting yet saddening ending where they get to know that DeWitt, the lead character of the story, is actually the primary antagonist of the game, Zachary Hale Comstock.

8. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater presents players with one of the most unexpected video game endings. If you are a fan of this franchise, you must be aware that multiple installments offer dark endings, but Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater has the darkest one possible.

Released in 2004, this game is often considered to be one of the greatest creations of Hideo Kojima because of the twists and turns in the plot. In this game, Naked Snake is on a rescue mission, and toward the end of the storyline, he learns that his mentor, The Boss, has defected to the Soviet Union and proven to be a traitor.

The duel between Naked Snake and The Boss is already heart-wrenching. But the most heartbreaking part comes when, after the death of The Boss, Snake discovers that his mentor wasn’t a traitor but a true patriot who played the role of a traitor to serve her country secretly.

After learning this, Snake’s salute to The Boss’s grave will always be an unforgettably sad moment in gaming history.
